Kick Off Pekan Gerakan Jakarta Sadar Sampah Digelar di Semper Barat

Jakarta Waste Awareness Movement Week in Semper Barat Begins

The Jakarta Environment (LH) Agency kicked off the Jakarta Waste Awareness Movement Week (PGJSS) at RW 03 Semper Barat Urban Village, Cilincing Sub-district, North Jakarta. This activity which also marked the start of PGJSS activity throughout Jakarta was initiated with a community forum.

It is expected to encourage and remind them to care about waste

North Jakarta Secretary Assistant for Economy and Development (Ekbang) Wawan Budi Rohman conveyed that the PGJSS kick-off event is a series to commemorate Jakarta's 495th Anniversary. The peak event will be held on June 25 with a mass cleanup action.

"It is expected to encourage and remind them to care about waste," he expressed, Monday (6/20).

Technically, he added, it took place in each RW. Of 462 RWs in North Jakarta, 50 percent of them were expected actively involved in the activity and also involved several stakeholders as a form of collaboration.

Jakarta LH Agency Public Relations Section Head Yogi Ikhwan mentioned that the PGJSS event was a colossal waste action carried out in 2,743 RWs throughout Jakarta. Today, all RWs held a final RW meeting to discuss things to be done during the event.

According to him, it is an effort to raise people's awareness of reducing waste at the source (household) through sorting waste. That way, waste that must be disposed of at the Bantar Gebang Final Disposal Site (TPA) could be reduced.

"Hopefully, North Jakarta can be an example for the success of this clean-up event," he hoped.
